Kris Bryant Slumping But Not Slumping, What’s The Problem?

Everyone in their career goes through a slump at some point. And at some point during the slump, you’re going to have to adjust to the pitching around you. However, not every player can adapt to a pitcher in the blink of an eye. And for those who can’t adjust and make the changes needed, their careers are cut short and forced to retire early. Earlier this month, Kris Bryant went through the slump of his career. Kris Bryant slumping like this is an odd sight to see, but it’s the kind of slump that if you can adjust can turn your whole career around. And other pitchers will have a tough time to adjust to your adjustments.

Kris Bryant

Now I don’t want to come off as one of those guys who sounds like a hater and bashing on Kris. I’m not trying to do that at all, the matter of fact I think this will be an incredible learning experience for Bryant. He hasn’t been playing anywhere near his full potential, with just nine home runs on the year. The 2016 N.L MVP doesn’t look like himself. However, it’s not like he’s not producing. Collecting the hits he needs, and hitting in certain situations has paid off. Sitting at 33 RBIs on the season, Kris is getting the hits when they matter the most. Now he may not be slugging a whole lot. Only two home runs in his last thirty games aren’t something that screams Kris Bryant. With the batting average at a comfortable .281 and an OBP of .389 on the season. Kris is doing just fine minus the power numbers.

How To Fix The Lack Of HomeRuns

A slump is hard to break out of as it is. However, to break out of a slugging slump is going to take some work. Many have speculated that Kris has a lot going on in his head. And could be the reason as to why he isn’t performing to the best of his abilities. While others think it’s because he’s become a little pull happy which is messing with his whole approach at the plate. I always thought Bryant slugged better when he focused on putting the ball all over the outfield. Whatever it may be, none of us can do anything except speculate and wait to see what happens. Kris Bryant is one of the top players in the MLB, and he will come around and when he does. Other teams better are careful how they pitch to the batters in front of him.
