Cubs Look To Extend The Division Lead By A 1.5 Games

Tonight The Cubs look to extend the division lead, with sending Tyler Chatwood to the mound. Now I know what a lot of us are thinking ” Great the second we get first place, the next game Chatwood starts.” And unfortunately it’s true, Chatwood has not been very good at keeping the walks down. However, the ERA wouldn’t suggest how out of control he’s been. It’s been an extreme case of bend and doesn’t break, but how long will that last?

Tyler Chatwood Needs To Dominate Tonight

In Tyler Chatwood’s last five starts, he has allowed twenty-six walks and eleven earned runs in that time. If Chatwood doesn’t have an outstanding start I don’t know how much longer Joe will go with him. Especially with the way Mike Montgomery has been playing lately. It would be a shock if before the All-Star Break Chatwood isn’t replaced by if not Montgomery, then someone else will. The Cubs have an excellent chance to extend the division lead, especially after the five-run eleventh inning in last nights game. If Chatwood can hold The Brewers to no more than three runs, I think The Cubs will have a good chance in this one.

Tyler Chatwood Final Line Prediction- 5.0 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 BB and 3 SO

Offense Explodes In Extras And Looks To Explode Again

Coming into tonight’s game The Cubs offense will face off against The Brewers righty, Chase Anderson. Who holds a 4.57 ERA and a WHIP of 1.25, although his strikeout to walk rate is much better than Tyler Chatwood. Nonetheless, The Cubs offense has been rolling here as of late, giving any pitcher they face a tough time. We’re finally starting to see this offense play to their full potential. Jason Heyward has been hitting very well this past couple of games. Hitting .341 so far in June with seven RBIs, one home run, and five doubles. He has certainly stepped up his game at the plate. And it’s showing in this Cubs offense, Heyward looks like he will have a hot hand for a while. Let’s enjoy the hot streak while we have it.
