Joc Pederson Leads the way in 12-5 Win Over Rangers

Last night, the Los Angeles Dodgers knocked in 12 runs in the 12-5 win over the Texas Rangers. Fueling the fire was Joc Pederson who went 3-4 with a home run, 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs. Joc’s 2-run homer was his eighth overall this season and his seventh in the month of June alone! In addition to Pederson, Max Muncy nailed another “Muncy Mash”, with his team-leading thirteenth homer of the season.

Later, in the fourth inning, the Dodgers really broke open the game sending eleven batters to the plate and scoring seven of them. Yasiel Puig helped to kick things off with a two-run homer, his eighth on the season. Followed by, Christ Taylor, Cody Bellinger, and Yasmani Grandal all driving in RBIs.

Multiple Pitchers (Again) To Get The Win

On the defensive end, Caleb Ferguson made his second start. Ferguson gave up five hits, two runs, and two walks, in addition to striking out three in four innings. To relieve Ferguson, Yimi Garcia came in and gave up 1 ER, while Edward Parades followed and didn’t give up any and got the win. Daniel Corcino closed out the game and got his first save.

The Dodgers have had to rely heavily on their bullpen as injuries have plagued all of the Dodgers’ starting pitchers. These injuries include Clayton Kershaw, Hyun-Jin Ryu, Rich Hill, Julio Urias, Walker Buehler and Kenta Maeda. Alex Wood is the lone the starter who has so far avoided the Disabled List.

Looking Forward…

Tonight, Kenta Maeda will make his return going up against Cole Hamels. Prior to going on the DL, Maeda had his best two starts of the season. He was able to go deep into the game, without giving up any runs. The Dodgers are definitely hoping he can do the same tonight and give the bullpen some much-needed rest.

In addition, Clayton Kershaw threw off the mound last night without any issue. This is great news in his progression. Further, although Walker Buehler got added to the 10-day DL, it was retroactive, so he could be good to go within a week, although Dave Roberts has said the microfracture in his rib could take a couple of weeks to fully heal.

Although the Dodgers’ depth has thus far been proving it’s the real deal, time and time again, it would definitely be nice to start getting healthy for the second half of the season.
