Cubs Route The Reds In Game Two By A Score Of 10-0
Baseball surely is the most unpredictable sport in the world and will forever hold that title. Today The Cubs and The Reds played a doubleheader, and it seemed like it was two different Cubs teams in between games. The first game was filled with frustration and disappointment. However, in game two The Cubs looked like a completely separate entity an offense that couldn’t be silenced. Cubs route The Reds in game two of today’s doubleheader. It would have been nice to take both games, but one win is better than two losses.
Jose Quintana Was Feeling Himself Today
When I say this man was in the zone, I mean this man was in the zone. Didn’t allow a single hit until the fifth inning, and didn’t allow a single run striking out seven batters on the day. You could tell right off the bat that Quintana was feeling his pitches and was going to make this most of this start. And that’s precisely what he did, never giving The Reds hitters a chance even to get decent contact on the ball. Being able to go seven-innings is a big step forward for Q and hope he keeps this trend going. The one thing that he could have cut down on was the walks. However, nothing came of the walks so no harm no foul.

Offense Sleeps In For Game 1, Wakes Up For Game 2
The Cubs offense today showed two completely different offenses. In game one we saw a team that went 1-16 with RISP, and in game two we saw a team score ten runs for the ninth time this season. Routing The Reds was a much-needed victory and something that hopefully propels The Cubs into their next series against Cleveland. Another milestone was hit today for the already historied franchise. The Cubs hit their 14,000h franchise home run, and it was hit by the best player in today’s doubleheader; Ian Happ. That’s a significant milestone to be apart of and its fitting he had the type of day he did.
Player Of The Game
Player of the game for game two is easy for me. It has to go to Jose Quintana, who bounced back from a rough start his last time out. Going seven full inning giving up just one hit and allowing only four walks and striking out seven. That should earn someone player of the game.
Now I thought of giving out a “Player of the doubleheader,” and if I had to pick someone, it would have to be Ian Happ. He had an incredible day between the two games going 4-7 between the two games, drawing three walks. And launching two home runs, one in each game. Happ helped The Cubs route The Reds a lot and is starting to get red hot and let’s hope he stays that way.
