El Mago El Magnifico

The most electrifying player in MLB, Javier Baez has been playing like he has come into his own. The Cubs best player over the past month, Baez has been able to make play after play at the plate and on the field, but the best part about all of it is, that he doesn’t seem to be slowing down at all! We all knew we had something special in Javier Baez, but I don’t think any of us had any idea what kind of player he was going to become. The N.L. leader in RBIs is certainly making a case for MVP if he can keep this up throughout the season.

El Mago

Javy has always been a stud in the field, but I feel that after his year at the plate in 2017, a lot of Cubs fans were concerned about his production at the plate. I definitely know I was one of the people questioning Baez’s ability at the plate, but now seeing how he has produced so far in the season, I have to take back what I have said about Baez at the dish. He seems that he has become a lot more patient at the plate. Laying off breaking pitches he would normally swing at, and also hitting the ball to all areas of the diamond has helped him immensely. Not going for the home run ball every at-bat has helped Javy a lot so far this season. I just hope he is able to keep up this impressive hot streak he is on.

In the month of April, Baez has a very attractive slash line at .328/.388/.836, which should earn him a player of the month award by the end of April. Baez also has 7 home runs and 22 runs batted in, in the month of April. It seems like all Joe had to do was throw Javy in the two hole and everything started to click for him. Batting .429/.429/.905 in the two hole with 2 of his 7 home runs and 7 of his RBIs coming from the two hole.

Javier Baez end of season stats prediction

Looking forward to the future, I can’t possibly see Baez keeping up this tear through the full course of a season. Instead of batting .328 from month to month. I can see a very comfortable .280-.290 from month to month. I predict Baez to end the season with 29 HRs, 95 RBIs with a slash line of .285/.368/.463. And since this has been such improbable start for Baez, I’m going to have an improbable take, and that take being, Javier Baez will win a Gold Glove Award.
