Kevin Harvick Is Hoping To Score His First Win This Season At Michigan
Kevin Harvick is coming off of a career season in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. Though he didn’t win the championship, he could have been argued as the favorite all season long. With 8 wins, 23 top fives, 29 top tens, and 1990 laps led, the stats don’t lie. Now as we approach the season’s 15th race at Michigan, Harvick is still winless.
Harvick currently sits in the 5th position in points with a comfortable gap on the playoff cut line. Though a win isn’t dire, it may give this team much needed momentum heading into the postseason. As we now look to the Michigan race weekend there may be no better place for Harvick to break through. Last season Harvick was able to claim a 2nd and 1st place finish in the two races at MIS.
“How you finish at Michigan depends on how your day is going,’’ Harvick told NASCAR. “If you’re having a good day, it’s not really hard to tell your guys what you need, and everyone is in a good mood. If you’re having a bad day, you can get behind at Michigan really fast. You’re going to end up with a green-flag pit stop and a whole bunch of green flag laps. You just have to be going from the time the green flag drops and keep yourself in position at the end.’’
Harvick’s Michigan Stats
Kevin’s stats at MIS show that he knows how to get the job done. In 36 starts he’s claimed 2 wins, 12 top fives, 17 top tens, and has an average finish of 12.1. In two of his last three starts, he’s been able to finish inside the top 3 twice. Does this mean Michigan is the place that Harvick breaks through this season? Not necessarily but with stats on his side, it’s very possible.
