If defeating the San Diego Padres and winning a West Coast road trip wasn’t enough to satisfy Pirates fans, Josh Bell crazy week last week earning him NL Player Of The Week.
Josh Bell Season Thus Far
For Pirates fans, knowing what Josh Bell was going to produce this season was a mystery in many ways. Last season was a bit of a disappointment and Pirates fans didn’t know what to expect this season. On the other hand, Pirates fans are shocked at the production that their first baseman has put up. To give you a glimpse of the numbers he has put up thus far, Bell is hitting .325 with an OBP (on-base percentage) of .396 and an OPS of 1.076. Bell’s, 325 average is good for seventh place in the entire league. His OBP is good enough for 19th place in the league. On the other hand, his OPS ranks fourth in the entire league. Besides average, OPS and OBP, Bell has hit two triples, crushed 14 home runs and knocked in 44 RBIs (Tied with Codey Bellinger of the Dodgers in RBIs and three home-runs behind him and Bellinger leads the league in average with a .404 average.)

So what was it that earned Bell Player Of The Week in the National League? Going 11-for-27 with 4 home runs and 10 RBIs will help the cause. In fact, his slash line for that week is as follows .407/.484/.889 with six runs scored, 11 hits, one double, four home runs, 10 RBIs and four walks.
Last Time A Pirate Won The Award
Pirates fans will be familiar to the name Andrew McCutchen who last won the award in 2017. Bell will take home the award for the first time in his career.
