Brewers Down 3-2 in NLCS After Game 5 Loss to Dodgers

The Brewers suffered another loss in the NLCS against the Dodgers last night. They now trail in the series 3-2. The series will now head back to Milwaukee for Game 6, and potentially Game 7. The Brewers started off the game with some early-Halloween trickery. Starter Wade Miley only threw the baseball five times before Craig Counsell came out and took Miley out of the game for Brandon Woodruff. Apparently, this was part of the plan as the Brewers plan to have Wade Miley start Game 6 back in Milwaukee. Woodruff went 5 1/3 innings allowing two runs on five hits, one walk, and eight strikeouts. For the Dodgers, Clayton Kershaw was back to his dominant self. Kershaw went seven innings allowing one run on three hits, two walks, and nine strikeouts. Game 6 will take place Friday back in Milwaukee.

Game Recap

Lorenzo Cain got the scoring started in the third inning when he doubled home Orlando Arcia to give the Brew Crew a 1-0 lead. The Dodgers offense did not get going until the fifth inning. Austin Barnes singled home Chris Taylor and the Dodgers offense was rolling. In the sixth inning, Max Muncy singled home Justin Turner, then Yasiel Puig singled home Manny Machado to make it 3-1 Dodgers. The Dodgers weren’t done yet. In the seventh, the Dodgers scored two more runs courtesy of Justin Turner and Brian Dozier. It would be a 5-1 Dodgers lead into the ninth. Curtis Granderson doubled home Jesus Aguilar to make it 5-2 Dodgers. Kenley Jansen then entered the game to earn his second save of the series, and secure a 5-2 Dodgers win.

Brewers Face Elimination on Home Turf

Now down 3-2 in the series, the Brewers will host Game 6 and Game 7* as both teams try to get into the Fall Classic. The Brewers will look to win the last two games of the series and avoid watching the Dodgers celebrate in the middle of their infield. The Brewers are dominant at home, and they will have to continue that if they hope to represent the National League in the World Series.
