Astros vs Indians Game 2 Preview

The Astros recorded a win today against the Indians, 7-2. The Astros hit 4 home runs and their offense is looking like a well-oiled machine.  As for the tribe, they are going to have to do a better job in the pitching department. There were too many pitches that caught too much of the plate. The Astros are a team that are going to make teams pay for things like that. So, will the Indians even up this series going back to Cleveland, or will the Astros leave home with a 2-0 lead? Let’s dive into this.

The pitching matchup is going to be Gerrit Cole vs Carlos Carrasco.  Gerrit Cole has looked like a pitcher who would be an ace on over half of the MLB’s teams. Carlos Carrasco has been a reliable pitcher and has pitched very solidly this year. I think that, while Cole is the better pitcher, all eyes will be on Carrasco. He is going to have to have the game of his life if he wants to come away with a win against the stacked Astros lineup. If the Indians don’t get a win in this game, I think that their chances in the series are slim to none. They are going to have to force this split on the road, and Carrasco is going to have to be the main guy that helps get it done.

Hitting Preview

The Indians are going to have to be better in the hitting department.  There was a point in game 1 when Jose Ramirez had runners on 2nd and 3rd and nobody out. The Indians were down 4-1, so this was their chance to get the games tied up. Instead, Ramirez hit a weak ground ball and only 1 run scored, and the mood of the inning shifted to the Astros. The Indians went downhill after that. If there is one thing that the Indians are going to have to do, it’s hit with runners on. Nobody cares if you can get a double with 2 outs and nobody on, you need to hit when it matters. The Astros did that today, now it is the Tribe’s turn.
