Moose Walks-Off for Brewers in Game 1

The Milwaukee Brewers took Game 1 of the NLDS with a walk-off winner against the Rockies. Mike Moustakas played the hero with a walk-off single in the bottom of the tenth inning. Brewers starter Brandon Woodruff went three no-hit innings allowing one walk and three strikeouts. The Brewers bullpen took care of the rest of the game until a little hiccough in the ninth inning. On the Rockies’ side, Antonio Senzatela went five innings, allowing three hits, two runs, and struck out one. Game 2 is set for tomorrow night. Tyler Anderson is set to take on Jhoulys Chacin and the Brewers at 4:15 pm. The Brewers look to head to Colorado up two games to none.

Game Recap

The first two innings went scoreless as both starters got off to great starts. MVP-hopeful Christian Yelich got the Brewers’ scoring started with a two-run homer in the third inning, his first career postseason home run. The Brewers’ bullpen held the Rockies silent until the ninth inning when Jeremy Jeffress entered the game. Charlie Blackmon got the Rockies going with an RBI single scoring Gerardo Parra. Nolan Arenado tied the game with a sac-fly. Jeremy Jeffress blew the save, his first since late August. However, the Brewers broke through in the tenth after a Mike Moustakas RBI single. The Brewers walk-off gives them a 1-0 series lead.

What to Expect the Rest of the Series

If tonight was any indication of how the rest of the series will play out, this is set up to be a great NLDS. The Rockies did not quit in the ninth despite being down two runs. The Brewers bounced back and walked it off in the bottom of the tenth. Expect a lot of back-and-forth scoring for the remainder of the series, and great October baseball.
