Three Things We Will See From AL In Post Season
That glorious time is here once again. The leaves are changing colors, the weather is getting colder, and Major League Baseball is about to take center stage again. Currently, as of writing, the National League looks more like a battle royale. So while we wait for the dust to settle, let’s have a look at three things we will see from the American League Post Season.
Number 3: Home Runs Galore
As of writing, the American League currently has 2,871 home runs this season. Along with that, every AL playoff team is in the Top 11 of baseball in home runs. Combine that with the number of hitter’s parks (looking at you, Yankee Stadium) and the number of power hitters each team has, expect to see the ball flying throughout October.
Number 2: Lots of Pitchers
With the trend of the “Opener” rising in 2018, expect teams with deep bullpens like the A’s to use that to their advantage in the Wild Card game and potentially beyond. And with four of the top five bullpen ERA leaders in the playoffs (HOU, NY, OAK, BOS), expect to see a lot of bullpen use by managers, especially in tight games.
Number 1: Darn Good Matchups
The best thing about the playoffs is that baseball’s best and brightest are on display. This year will be no different in the American League. Khris Davis and the A’s getting the national attention they deserve under the bright lights of Yankee Stadium. The last two American League champions meeting in a best of five. The potential for Stanton and Judge to lead the charge against JD and the Sox in another rivalry classic.
No matter how the AL shakes out, one thing is certain. We the fans are in for a real treat. So, sit back and watch baseball at it’s most mesmerizing. With the spotlight on the league’s best, all playing for the same goal, the American League is sure to deliver come October.
