Dodgers Drop Seven Bombs In Sweep Over Mets

Yesterday, The Dodgers belted seven solo home runs in their 11 inning win and series sweep over The Mets. Seven dingers are the most the Mets have ever given up at home. Kiké Hernandez and Max Muncy started off the game by hitting back to back solo shots.

Kiké’s Take

When asked about leadoff, Kiké said, “Leading off against a lefty, I just wanted to make the best of the AB. I wasn’t sure if it was going to be my only at-bat of the day.” Hernandez further said, “He left a fastball down the middle, and we got off to a good start.”

As for Kiké’s second jack of the game, he said: “I used my dad’s bat for the second one. I don’t like the way they boo him here, so that adds a little bit to my game.” When referring to “my dad,” Hernandez was talking about none other than the Silver Fox, Chase Utley. Utley is a major veteran presence in the clubhouse and who so many on this young L.A. team look up to.

All Those Homers…

In addition to Hernandez and Muncy dropping bombs, Joc Pederson crushed a 437ft bomb into the right-center upper deck. Further, Cody Bellinger went yard twice himself to gain the team lead with 15 homers. Last but not least in the slugfest, was former Met, Justin Turner who gave the Dodgers the 8-7 lead and eventual win in the 11th inning.

The Dodgers three-game sweep of the Mets made it twelve wins in a row for L.A. against New York. The Dodgers are now six games over .500. Helping them get there are the 46 home runs they’ve hit in June and 102 dingers overall, which is league leading. A far cry from the more than slow start the Dodger bats started at the beginning of the season.

Up next

Up next is a four-game series against the Chicago Cubs. Before the Mets series, the Dodgers just finished a three-game series in Wrigley, where they went 1-2. The Dodgers rebounded against the Mets by sweeping them, while the Cubs took an opposite turn and got swept themselves, by the Reds. Hopefully, they both continue their prospective streaks.
