Yu Darvish Gets First Win As A Cub In 6-1 Victory Over The Reds
What a day, what a day, am I right Cubs fans? The Cubs win the series against The Reds and head home tonight to face the Indians on Tuesday. Even more important, Yu Darvish gets first win as Cub. And it was some sort of beautiful when he was on the mound.
He did run into a little bit of trouble but nothing that came back to hurt Yu or the Cubs. The offense was yet again impressive for the second game in a row. Which can mean one of two things, one being the Cubs offense will keep rolling and get hotter, or they will completely back track and their offense will yet agan struggle to score more than three runs. I hope its option A because watching this team struggle is a frustrating thing to do.
Yu Darvish Gets First Win As A Cub
After a hand full of starts Yu Darvish was finally able to get his first win in a Cub uniform. And looked really sharp doing it if you ask me. Going 6.0 IP and giving up just one run on two hits is comfortable start for Yu. In his last start he was only able to go four inning, however a leg cramp hindered his start. It’s not like he wasn’t pitching well, just don’t want to risk an injury. After coming off the DL. Yu looked very solid for the majority of his start. He did have problems in the first inning in which he gave up his only run and both hits. Yu only allowed two other base runners after that first inning striking out seven on the day.
Yu Darvish Final Line- 6.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 7 SO
Offense lights Up The Scoreboard Yet Again
After torching The Reds last night by a score of 10-0, The Cubs were right back at it today. Ending the game with a commanding lead of 6-1,were also able to back their starter and get the win. Cubs were able to get 16 men on base during this game. And the fact that the Cubs with RISP was a lot better compared to the first game of a double-header. Javier Baez stayed hot going 3-4 with a HR and an RBI. I’m liking what I’m seeing from the team right now and hope it continues into the future.
Player Of The Game
There are a couple of men who are deserving of Player of the game. However, I believe the honor should go to the man who got his first ever win as a Cub today. And that would Mr. Yu Darvish, Yu started out the season slow and a lot of people were questioning the signing of Darvish. However in his past couple of starts I am growing more and more confident that he will look like the Darvish of old and be striking out 200+ guys a season with ease.
