Busch Brothers Look for Success in Las Vegas

So far this season, Kurt and Kyle Busch have been 2 of the fastest drivers. Race 3 of the season has added significance for the Busch brothers, as they hail from Las Vegas. Can either past champion win big in Sunday’s Pennzoil 400? The stats are conflicting for both Busch brothers.

Busch Brothers’ Stats in Las Vegas

The elder of the 2 Busch brothers, Kurt has made 18 starts at his home track in Sin City. The newest addition to Chip Ganassi Racing has 1 top 5, 4 top 10s, and 85 laps led in this time. Kurt also has 2 Las Vegas poles, with an average finish of 22.4.

In the past 5 Las Vegas races, Kurt only has 1 finish inside of the top 10. This is in spite of 3 top 10 starts, including starting P3 a year ago. It may be a bit of an uphill battle for Kurt Busch to win on Sunday, but the 1 has some momentum. Kurt finished 3rd last week in Atlanta, so he may have a strong car for Las Vegas.

The younger of the Busch brothers, Kyle has had some more success in Vegas, but not recently. Kyle’s lone Las Vegas win came in 2009, after starting from the rear. Since then, Kyle has only 4 top 10s in Vegas. Overall, KB18 has 1 win, 6 top 5s, 8 top 10s, 2 poles, and an average finish of 12.9 at Las Vegas. Busch finished runner-up in this race a year ago, so expect him to be a contender on Sunday.

To date, the Busch brothers are the only Nevada-born drivers to race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Racing in front of a hometown crowd always has added pressure to perform, which they will both try to capitalize on this weekend. Tune in on Sunday to see if either of the Busch brothers can win the Pennzoil 400 from Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
