Can Kevin Harvick Pull off the Season Sweep at Las Vegas?
This Sunday the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series head to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the 1st race of the 2018 Playoffs. 1 driver to watch this weekend is Kevin Harvick. Harvick has been having a career year in 2018 and has already posted 7 wins. Not only does Harvick lead the series in wins, but he also has led the most laps at 1,220 circuits. Early in the season, Harvick was very dominant, as he won 3 of the first 4 races. One of those races was in fact at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. His performance that weekend should worry the competition.
Kevin Harvick looks to Continue Dominance
Back in March, Kevin Harvick was absolutely dominant in the series’ first trip to Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Harvick led 214 of the race’s 267 laps to win his 2nd race in a row. This also happened to be his second win in the last four races at the track. In fact, ever since his switch to Stewart-Haas Racing, he has had great results. In 5 races, he has 2 wins and 3 top 10 finishes. Harvick has also finished 38th and 41st, however his finishes are not telling of his actual performance.
So for Harvick, there is possibly not a better track for the Playoffs to open at. Especially if you go off of his performance from earlier this season, Kevin should be a threat to lock himself into the 2nd round of the Playoffs. That would be the perfect step towards a second series championship for Harvick. He always seems to be there at the end battling for the championship. Harvick has finished 3rd or better in the standings 5 of the last 6 seasons. So as Kevin Harvick looks to take a step towards his second Championship, a Vegas sweep being in the cards would certainly help.
