Layne Riggs Earns Second Career Truck Win as Spoiler Again at Bristol

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Nobody seemingly told Layne Riggs or Front Row Motorsports that the Truck Series Playoffs began. The No. 38 Ford F-150 has been outstanding across both postseason races to date, upsetting all 10 contenders with both trophies. Riggs called Bristol’s truck the best piece he’s ever had. The short track ace gets the job done on the World’s Fastest Half-Mile.

The opening Stages were split between Playoff contenders Rajah Caruth and Corey Heim. Bristol marked Caruth’s first career Stage win, while it was number seven of the year for Heim.

Non-Playoff driver Layne Riggs initially took off early in Stage 3, eyeing a second-straight win following Milwaukee. The 38 was the best handling truck in clean air and remained unbeaten out front. Riggs takes home a second-straight Playoff upsetting win from Thunder Valley.

“Oh my gosh,” Riggs said. “We’ve just learned so much with the Trucks, my team, Dylan (Cappello) my crew chief, he’s a badass. He works so hard at night, we all do as a young team. I think our average age is in the 20s. It’s so amazing, just to be running fifth, tenth, and all of a sudden go back-to-back in the Playoffs. Man I wish I was in the Playoffs so bad, I think we’d be a real threat to win this championship.”

“I have a bad mug, that’s what [my guys] said over the radio. I wasn’t scared to throw it against the fence tonight. The track was so fun, I’m so glad they didn’t put the PJ1 on the track. So much fun. Even at the very end, you could run the bottom or the top and make equal lap time. I know the Cup race on Saturday night’s going to be awesome, hope everybody tunes in.”

“Just want a shoutout to Love’s, for being on the truck, you can’t miss the big yellow truck, Infinity Communications, and everybody that’s helped me so much to get here.”

Behind Riggs were Playoff contenders Corey Heim, Rajah Caruth, Christian Eckes, and Nick Sanchez. Matt Crafton, Chase Purdy, Ty Majeski, Stewart Friesen, and Tyler Ankrum rounded out the top-10.

Take a look at the updated postseason standings below, following two of the three Round of 10 races. Despite both being won by non-contender Riggs, three drivers have still locked up a spot in the next round.

The Truckers will see a Sunflower State showdown narrow their Playoff field. A return trip to Kansas Speedway is on deck in the Truck Series, with Corey Heim aiming for a season sweep. The Kubota Tractor 200 goes green Friday at 8:30 p.m. ET on FS1, MRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90. Can Dye or Rhodes pull off an upset and break into the elite eight?
