Autódromo Hermanos Rodriguez added onto NASCAR Cup, Xfinity Series 2025 Schedules

MEXICO CITY, MEXICO – 2025 is set to feature a monumental first for the NASCAR Cup Series. The world’s best stock car racers will make their inaugural trek south of the border to Mexico City. The famed Autódromo Hermanos Rodriguez will play host to a points race. The southern trip will be next summer, lasting from June 14-15. This first-of-its-kind weekend will also feature Xfinity cars and the NASCAR Mexico Series in support events.

“This is a historic moment for our sport, and specifically for the NASCAR Cup Series, in being able to expand our footprint to Mexico,” said Ben Kennedy, NASCAR’s Executive Vice President & Chief Venue & Racing Innovation Officer. “We’ve been bold about our intentions to grow on a global scale, and there isn’t a better place to take the next step in that journey than at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez road course in Mexico City.”

“At OCESA, we are dedicated to entertaining people, and this has positioned us as the most powerful live events platform in Mexico and Latin America, as well as one of the most important globally,” said Alejandro Soberón, Founder and CEO of OCESA. “The arrival of the NASCAR Cup Series to our country reflects the significant growth that motorsports has experienced in Mexico, an achievement in which Escudería Telmex has played a major role by promoting the NASCAR Mexico Series and supporting drivers like Daniel Suárez.”

Suarez will certainly be the center of attention for this historic weekend. The Monterrey, Mexico native has past laps on the 2.6-mile, 17-turn course. He has also always yearned of returning to race NASCAR at home.

“It’s really a dream come true,” Suarez said. “You know, exactly 10 years ago, I was here raising NASCAR Mexico in 2014, and I went racing here before winning NASCAR Mexico and moving full-time to the NASCAR Xfinity series in 2015. And I knew that some years before my time, the Xfinity Series had the opportunity to come to Mexico for a few years. And I remember thinking, what a dream would be for me to race the NASCAR Cup Series one day in my country. I do remember thinking that, and, you know, fast forward now, nine years later, here we are.”

As mentioned by Suarez, the Xfinity Series does have past history on the Autódromo Hermanos Rodriguez. From 2005-2008, winners included Cup Series stars: Denny Hamlin, Martin Truex Jr., Juan Pablo Montoya, and Kyle Busch.

Mexico City will mark the first international Cup Series points race in over six decades. Their last points-paying outing not in America was at Canadian Exposition Stadium in Toronto in July, 1958. That race was won by Hall of Famer Lee Petty, and was also the debut of his son, ‘The King’ Richard Petty. Three exhibition races were also held in Japan on the Suzuka Circuit from 1996-1998.

The Xfinity Series race will be broadcast on The CW, while the Cup Series event will air on Prime Video.

Exact details such as race distance and stages are yet-to-be announced. Fans interested in attending can register online for future ticket information at NASCARMexico.com.
