Haas Factory Team to Compete in NASCAR Cup, Xfinity Series

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – Longtime NASCAR owner Gene Haas, who owns Haas Automation and has a two-decade history in racing, will continue to race in 2025.

Haas had previously announced the closing of current team Stewart-Haas Racing, co-owned with NASCAR Hall of Famer Tony Stewart, after 2024. He will keep up a NASCAR presence on a smaller scale however.

Haas will hold onto one NASCAR Cup Series charter from Stewart-Haas, and also run a two-car Xfinity Series team. The new venture will compete as Haas Factory Team.

“My commitment to motorsports hasn’t changed, just the scope of my involvement,” Haas said. “Operating a four-car Cup Series team has become too arduous but, at the same time, I still need a platform to promote Haas Automation and grow HaasTooling.com.

“Maintaining my presence in Cup allows Haas Automation to compete at NASCAR’s highest level, which is important to our customers and distributors. The Xfinity Series program provides a full weekend experience for our guests, and it delivers added depth and scale to our overall operation.”

Haas Racing veteran executive Joe Custer will be the president of Haas Factory Team. It will operate out of the existing Stewart-Haas building in Kannapolis, North Carolina.

Custer’s son, Cole, is a current Xfinity Series driver for Stewart-Haas Racing. On the strength of three wins a season ago, Custer won the 2023 Xfinity Series championship. It is not yet known how Custer or any other current SHR employees will fit into Haas Factory Team.

Drivers, a manufacturer, and team partners will all be made public at a later date.
