Joey Logano Wins North Wilkesboro All-Star Race, Tempers Flare Further Back

NORTH WILKESBORO, N.C. – 2024’s rendition of the NASCAR All-Star Race will go down as one of the most perfect runs in the event’s 40-year history. Starting on pole, Joey Logano almost led wire-to-wire, being out front for all but one lone lap. This All-Star Race’s lasting legacy though will be a steaming Ricky Stenhouse Jr waiting on and fighting Kyle Busch post-race.

Logano’s No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil Ford Mustang was just about flawless all night. Logano attributes this to over 800 laps ran at a recent Goodyear tire test from North Wilkesboro Speedway. Option tires, prime tires, it did not matter; the 22 was in the wind for the entirety of the night.

“A lot of fun when you’ve got a car this fast,” Logano said. “The Shell/Pennzoil Mustang, it’s just so great to get in Victory Lane. All of our sponsors and everyone who stuck with us to get a win, it feels nice. It’s been a while. I wish it was for points, but a million bucks is still a lot of money and I feel great about that.”

“Well, we did the first 100, so why wouldn’t it last the second 100. That was our thought, so it was definitely an aggressive strategy, but it worked out good.”

Logano’s dominant night came hours after Team Penske also locked out the front row at Indianapolis 500 qualifying. Scott McLaughlin put up a record-setting pole speed that put a new page in the Indy 500 record books. Logano backed up this team milestone with his own banner performance.

This race will live on in highlight reels however for what devolved from lap two. Ricky Stenhouse Jr spun off the bumper of Kyle Busch. Talking after parking in Busch’s pit box, Stenhouse vowed he would wait around for a post-race conversation with driver 8. That is exactly what happened, with Stenhouse standing outside of the No. 8 hauler when Busch came marching up.

After a few words exchanged, Stenhouse threw a punch at Busch and a brawl quickly broke out. It took several officials and crew members to separate team 47 guys from Busch and his team. Ricky Stenhouse Sr was also involved in this fray, getting a few blows in on Busch. See the full fight and argument below.

Behind Logano, Denny Hamlin, Chris Buescher, Kyle Larson, and Ryan Blaney were the top-five. Hear from a few of these drivers below.

Following more than a few hurt feelings, one of 2024’s most prestigious races is up next. The Coca-Cola 600 goes green from Charlotte Motor Speedway Sunday at 6 p.m. ET on FOX, PRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90. Will any of these bent tempers transfer over into NASCAR’s longest night?
