Justin Allgaier Takes 24th Career Xfinity Win at Darlington

DARLINGTON, S.C. – Another new winner in Xfinity this season adds to a few Series milestones. Justin Allgaier picked up a hat trick of Darlington Raceway victories with a perfect race, sweeping all three Stages. The JR Motorsports driver is Playoff-bound once again, after a few close heartbreaks to open the season.

After starting seventh, the No. 7 of Justin Allgaier methodically worked his way forward for the Stage 1 win. The JR Motorsports driver and past Darlington winner would go on to sweep both Stages. No on-track incidents would slow the race between either Stages.

Allgaier did not relinquish the lead once in the final Stage, having to outgun the competition on two restarts. A first win of 2024 for Allgaier puts driver No. 7 in elite company among Xfinity Series greats. Allgaier now stands alone with the most top-10s all-time (267), breaking a tie with Kyle Busch. Career win number 24 also puts Allgaier tied for 10th-most series victories, alongside Tommy Houston and team owner Dale Earnhardt Jr.

“This means a lot, I didn’t know if the day would come where I’d be able to match Dale Jr,” Allgaier said. “Not only is he a great boss, but a really good mentor and an unbelievable racecar driver. These fans know it. Dale Jr is an incredible human being. To come here, be able to tie him, get into the all-time top-10, man there’s nothing better than that.”

“My wife and kids and Rick Brandt are all here. Just a heck of a weekend. Got to say happy Mother’s Day to my mom, she’s here, my wife and all the moms out there. Just a cool weekend.”

Behind Allgaier at the finish were Austin Hill, Cole Custer, Sam Mayer, and Aric Almirola. The rest of the top-10 were: Parker Kligerman, Riley Herbst, Jesse Love, Sheldon Creed, and Brandon Jones. Hear from some of these drivers below.

The Xfinity Series returns after an off week at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The BetMGM 300 goes green Saturday, May 25 at 1 p.m. ET on FOX, PRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90. Allgaier is also the defending Charlotte winner, JR Motorsports will be eyeing two straight victories in their backyard.
