2024 Schedules Unveiled for NASCAR Cup, Xfinity and Truck Series

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Made public on Wednesday, NASCAR has finally announced the 2024 schedules, start times and networks for the Cup, Xfinity and Craftsman Truck Series. NASCAR will add another inaugural event onto its 2024 lineup, with the Cup Series visiting Iowa Speedway for the first time. The trend for at least one new banner race each season follows in the footsteps of recent successes including the Chicago Street Race, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and WorldWide Technology Raceway.

The 7/8-mile short track in Newton, Iowa was a regular stop for both Xfinity and the Truck Series from 2009 to 2019. Now in 2024, the premier series will head to the Heartland. Iowa’s first-ever Cup race will be on Sunday, June 16, airing on USA Network at 7:00 p.m. ET.

Iowa’s path to finally having a Cup Series date is eerily reminiscent to Nashville Superspeedway. Both venues previously held Xfinity and Truck Series races, only to fall off the schedule and become seemingly forgotten. The Rusty Wallace-designed track will be the center of the NASCAR universe once again in June.

“NASCAR is committed to delivering an annual schedule that continues to be bold and dynamic across all three national series while maintaining the famed destinations that our fans love,” said Ben Kennedy, NASCAR Senior Vice President of Racing Development and Strategy. “The 2024 NASCAR National Series schedules strike a great balance between visiting many of our traditional tracks that continue to put on a great show, and newer locations like our first Cup race in Iowa and our highly anticipated return to the streets of Chicago that create ‘bucket list’ moments and attract new fans to America’s leading motorsport.”

The 2024 Cup Series season will begin as the last two seasons have, with the third running of the Busch Light Clash at the Los Angeles Coliseum. The season-opening exhibition will be Sunday, Feb. 4 on FOX and FOX Deportes at 8:00 p.m. ET. Making the third Coliseum Clash unique though will be the addition of the NASCAR Mexico Series. This precursor race marks the first time in Cup Series history where Mexico’s top racing series shares the spotlight.

The 66th Running of the Daytona 500 will mark the points-paying start to the 2024 regular season yet again. The Great American Race will go green Sunday, Feb. 18, on FOX at 2:30 p.m. ET.

Additional key points on the Cup Series schedule include:

  • Both 2024 Richmond Raceway events will be night races. The first will take place on Easter Sunday, March 31 (7:00 p.m. ET, FOX) and then on Sunday, August 11 (6:00 p.m. ET, USA Network).
  • Bristol Motor Speedway’s spring race (Sunday, March 17, 3:30 p.m. ET, FOX) will be on the concrete surface after three years of Bristol Dirt.
  • The 40th-annual NASCAR All-Star Race (Sunday, May 19, 8:00 p.m. ET, FS1) will return to historic North Wilkesboro Speedway. Kyle Larson took home the $1 million prize this season in NASCAR’s first race on the revived venue since 1996.
  • Round two in the streets of Chicago will be Sunday, July 7 (4:30 p.m. ET, NBC). The inaugural race this year saw New Zealand’s Shane van Gisbergen take the checkered flag in his series debut.
  • NASCAR will also return to the hallowed oval at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Brickyard 400 on Sunday, July 21 (2:30 p.m. ET, NBC). This comes after running three seasons on the road course.
  • Following the Brickyard weekend will be a two-week break to accommodate the 2024 Summer Olympic games and NBC’s broadcasting duties in Paris.
  • The Cup Series Playoffs will begin one week later in 2024, with the regular season finale being the Southern 500 from Darlington Raceway (Sunday, Sept. 1, 6:00 p.m. ET, USA Network) and Daytona International Speedway will be the second-to-last regular season race (Saturday, Aug. 24, 7:30 p.m. ET, NBC).
  • Atlanta Motor Speedway will host the opening race of the NASCAR Playoffs on Sunday, Sept. 8 (3:00 p.m. ET, USA Network) and the champion will be decided again at Phoenix Raceway on Sunday, Nov. 10 (3:00 p.m., NBC).
  • Watkins Glen International (Sunday, Sept. 15, 3:00 p.m. ET, USA Network) will also join the NASCAR Playoffs cast, joining a reorganized Round of 16.

The Xfinity Series schedule is highlighted by a return visit to Iowa Speedway on Saturday, June 15 (3:30 p.m. ET, USA Network). This will mark the series’ first trip to this short track since 2019. Xfinity has competed at Iowa 20 previous times. Other highlights for Xfinity include:

  • The return of the Talladega Playoff race on Saturday, Oct. 5. This unpredictable wildcard event will go green on NBC at 3:30 p.m. ET.
  • Xfinity will also join Cup again for the Chicago Street Race weekend. Year two of this spectacle will happen over Fourth of July Weekend (Saturday, July 6, 2:30 p.m. ET, NBC).
  • Bristol Motor Speedway and Kansas Speedway switch their spots on the schedule. The Last Great Colosseum is now the Xfinity regular season finale (Friday, Sept. 20, 7:30 p.m. ET, USA Network) and the Playoffs opener will be Kansas (Saturday, Sept. 28, 3:30 p.m. ET, USA Network).

The Craftsman Truck Series will return to Martinsville Speedway for their semifinal event in the Round of 8 (Friday, Nov. 1, 6:00 p.m. ET, FS1), setting the stage for the finale at Phoenix Raceway on Friday, Nov. 8 (8:00 p.m. ET on FS1). Additional changes in the Truck Playoffs include:

  • Richmond Raceway becoming the regular season finale (Saturday, Aug. 10, 7:30 p.m., FS1) while Milwaukee Mile is now the Playoff opener on Sunday, Aug. 25 (4:00 p.m. ET, FS1).
  • Kansas Speedway is now the first cut-off race in the Round of 10 (Friday, Sept. 27, 8:30 p.m. ET, FS1) and Talladega Superspeedway becomes the opening Round of 8 stop (Friday, Oct. 4, 5:00 p.m. ET, FS1).
