Kyle Larson Takes Third Career Truck Series Win at North Wilkesboro Speedway

NORTH WILKESBORO, N.C. – There was never much doubt as to who the favorite was for the Tyson 250 Craftsman Truck Series race at North Wilkesboro Speedway. Starting eighth, Kyle Larson in the Spire Motorsports No. 7 did not take command until lap 102. From that point on though it was a Larson clinic. The California driver picked up a Stage 2 win en route to career victory number three in the Trucks.

The only stumbling block to a perfect Larson domination came from Bubba Wallace. On older tires, the No. 1 TRICON Garage Toyota initially held off the 5 on a late restart. Larson’s much faster truck and newer tires eventually prevailed though, passing Wallace for good with 15 laps left.

“It was a really fun track there, especially in the truck where you can use the apron and such at both ends,” said Larson. “I had a good time. That was a lot of fun on the long runs.”

“I wasn’t supposed to run. Unfortunately, Alex (Bowman) got hurt, and I got the opportunity to run this.”

North Wilkesboro marks Larson’s first Truck Series triumph since Eldora in 2016. Larson also takes the No. 7 team to their second-ever win, and first of 2023. Larson not only joins the exclusive list of North Wilkesboro winners, but also becomes one of few drivers to win across all three NASCAR National Series in a single season.

Behind Larson, the North Wilkesboro top-10 were Ty Majeski, Matt DiBenedetto, Carson Hocevar, Bubba Wallace, Corey Heim, Matt Crafton, Chase Purdy, Ross Chastain, and Grant Enfinger. Hear from some of these drivers below.

The North Wilkesboro Speedway record books will have Kyle Larson as the first NASCAR race winner in 27 years. The only question that remains is can Young Money pull off a weekend sweep in tomorrow’s All-Star Race?

The Craftsman Truck Series will return to action from Charlotte Motor Speedway. The North Carolina Education Lottery 200 will go green Friday at 8:30 p.m. ET on FS1, MRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90. The race to the Truck Series Playoffs is on. Charlotte allows a chance for another new winner.
