Bubba Wallace Addresses Vegas Penalty, Ready to Move On

RIDGEWAY, Va. – Bubba Wallace met with media Saturday to address his recent one-race suspension penalty after an incident with Kyle Larson at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The 23XI Racing driver understood the penalty he was assessed and is looking to move forward.

“I totally accepted the penalty and the repercussion that came from my actions,” Wallace said. “I talked to (Steve) O’Donnell and I talked to (Steve) Phelps and I said ‘Hey, I’m good with being the example if we can keep this consistent moving forward.’ It’s happened multiple times this year and it may still continue to happen for other drivers down the road. I’ve learned my lesson but we have to be consistent with this no matter if it’s here at Martinsville or at Daytona and Talladega.”

Wallace added that he and Kyle Larson have talked after the incident.

“We had a great conversation this week,” Wallace said. “The best thing for us is we both understood where our frustrations were and moving forward how we both can handle those situations better.”

Moving forward is key for Wallace, who’s had some of his most consistent strong runs lately. The team remains focused on closing out the final two races with that same consistency.

“I haven’t lost the edge that we’ve been on,” Wallace said. “The second half of our season has been really, really strong. The best of my career. Now, I’ve put this blacklight over that with this deal last week and I hate that. We still have the momentum on our side and still a lot of things to do. Excited to be back on the track with the team here…I’m not coming back with a vengeance or anything, just going to continue doing what we’ve been doing.”
