Justin Allgaier Takes Second Win of Season in Nashville

LEBANON, Tenn. – Saturday was a perfect day all around for Justin Allgaier at Nashville Superspeedway. After starting fifth, the Hellmann’s No. 7 for JR Motorsports took both Stages and the race victory. After finishing second to Kyle Busch here a year ago, 2022 was Allgaier’s time to take home the Gibson guitar trophy.

Both Stage wins for Allgaier only further padded recent domination from JRM. The four-car fleet has now won the last 12 Stages on ovals in Xfinity Series competition.

Despite making his final pit stop early on lap 113, Allgaier’s fastest car was still unbeatable. In total, the 7 would lead a whopping 134 of 188 laps at Nashville. He would also take the victory by over four seconds. This marks Allgaier’s second win of 2022 (Darlington) and his first at Nashville.

Allgaier came into Nashville only having eight Playoff points. After a max-points afternoon, driver 7 has nearly doubled that total, taking home seven valuable bonus points.

“This guitar has been on my bucket list for a long, long time,” Allgaier said referencing the unique trophy. Saturday was Allgaier’s eighth start at Nashville Superspeedway, besting his second-place run last from year.

“What a heck of a race, man. We’ve been coming here for a long time, and I love this race track. Been trying to get a win so bad and hadn’t been able to do it.

“Today was like a dirt race. It was slick, it was hot, we were sliding around… I’ve got a guitar to take home, and we’re going to enjoy it, for sure.”

Some drama did unfold late on-track, as Sam Mayer and Ty Gibbs tangled with each other. After mistakenly dumping too much air on Gibbs’ rear spoiler, Mayer caused the 54 to spin out. After some contact with the 1, Gibbs continued. Both drivers would bring home a top-five result.

Top finishers behind Allgaier included Trevor Bayne, Riley Herbst, Ty Gibbs, Sam Mayer, Ryan Preece, Jeffrey Earnhardt, Austin Hill, Ryan Sieg, and Brett Moffitt. Hear from some of these drivers below.

The Xfinity Series returns to action next week from Road America. The four-mile road course in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin has been an Xfinity staple and fan-favorite event for years; 2022 will likely deliver another great show. The Henry 180 goes green at 3:30 p.m. ET Saturday on USA Network, MRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90. Can AJ Allmendinger collect another road course win, or will someone else claim victory on the Wisconsin circuit?
