UPDATED NASCAR Television Schedule: Tripleheader Weekend of Atlanta Motor Speedway
All three NASCAR divisions return to the track this weekend in Atlanta. This time around however, Atlanta will be unlike anything we’ve ever seen before, after an offseason repaving and reconfiguration. Banking in the corners has risen from 24 to 28 degrees, meaning that speeds will be higher on the 1.5-mile track. The turns have also been narrowed from 55′ to only a 40′ width, meaning that pack-style superspeedway racing is expected. However, nobody has turned any competitive laps yet on this all-new surface. Nobody precisely knows what we will have in store across all three races this weekend.
Friday’s practice will be ultra-important for all drivers to learn this new surface. After a Truck/Xfinity doubleheader on Saturday, the weekend ends with Sunday’s Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 for the Cup Series.
After rain washed out all on-track practice sessions Friday, everyone will practice on Saturday. Because of this schedule adjustment, all three races will utilize metric qualifying to set lineups, rather than a traditional time-trials session.
