Kyle Busch Racing For The Weekend Sweep In Phoenix
Kyle Busch is quickly approaching 200 career wins among NASCAR’s top 3 series. Just 1 week ago, Busch came up short from sweeping the weekend in his hometown of Las Vegas. His 2 wins there moved his total to 196 career wins. As we get to ISM Raceway in Phoenix, Busch has already claimed a win in the Xfinity Series. Sunday’s Cup race will give him the opportunity to claim win 199 and sweep the weekend in the desert.
“Phoenix is a pretty neat place, even though they made some changes with the repave,” Busch told NASCAR. “The track has worn in with racing and the sun, so it’s getting back to a fun place again. It was interesting to see how the place raced last fall with the change in where the start-finish line is and how that changed the racing.”
Kyle Busch’s Phoenix Stats
In 27 NASCAR Cup Series starts at ISM Raceway Kyle has scored 2 wins, with his most recent coming last fall. With those wins, he also holds on to 9 top-fives, 19 top-tens and an average finish of 11.4. Though his Cup Series stats are impressive, his Xfinity stats are truly impeccable. In his 23 Phoenix starts in that series, he’s claimed a record 11 wins with 16 top-fives, 19 top-tens and an average finish of 5.7.
“For some reason, I’ve always run well there. I don’t know if it’s that I’m comfortable being back close to home on the West Coast, or what. I always have a little more fan support out there, as well. As for the track itself, you’ve always had two distinctly different corners at Phoenix, which makes it fun and challenging all at the same time,” said Busch.
With the opportunity to make more NASCAR history, look for Kyle to give it everything this weekend. The number 18 Toyota Camry will roll off 4th in Sunday’s Ticket Guardian 500.
