NASCAR
This weekend Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series heads to New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the 20th race of the season. Somewhat shockingly two-thirds of Team Penske’s talented trio still remain winless to this point. With Joey Logano being the only Team Penske driver so far to lock himself into the Playoffs. However, last weekend at Kentucky Team Penske showed promising speed. With two of the trio finishing in the top-5 and the third finishing in 10th.
Talented Team Penske Trio
Logano was the worst finishing driver last weekend at Kentucky Speedway but already has himself locked into the Playoffs. So while a win is not necessary for the 22 team that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t like to add to their playoff point total. New Hampshire is a good track for Logano and is where he notched his first career win in 2009. This is not his only win at the track as he won the 2014 Playoff race at the track. So look for a strong showing out of Logano this weekend.
The second best finishing Penske driver at Kentucky was Brad Keselowski. Keselowski posted a third-place finish which was his fifth top-10 in the last seven races. So it surely seems as if Penske’s most senior driver and only active champion is finding his stride. This could cause problems for the competition at New Hampshire this weekend as Keselowski is seemingly a constant in the top-10 at the track. While Keselowski only has one win at the track which came in 2014, he has 6 top-5s, 11 top-10s, and an average finish of 9.82. So look for Keselowski to possibly notch his first win of 2018 on Sunday.
Bad Luck Blaney
Last Weekend it was Ryan Blaney who was Team Penske’s highest finishing driver as he finished in 2nd place. Blaney has had issues as of late as Kentucky snapped a three-race streak of finishes 18th or worse. Not only this but he has had three DNF’s the past eight races. While he has not had great results it doesn’t mean he hasn’t had speed this season. In fact, speed has not been an issue in any way for Blaney this season. It has been a season that has been held back by mechanical issues and bad-luck for the 24-year-old driver. Perhaps the stat that proves this the most is that Blaney has led the fourth most laps in the series this year so far. Blaney has five career starts at New Hampshire and a career-best finish of 9th which came in his most recent race at the track. So if the gremlins for Blaney and the 12 team are gone he could have a win coming in the near future.
So if this weekend is anything like the last for Team Penske look for a strong showing out of all three drivers and even possibly a win out of any of the three.
