NASCAR Moves Forward the Start of the 68th Running of the Daytona 500

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – NASCAR has made the decision to move forward the start time of The Great American Race, as weather forecasts show a potential threat to racing on Sunday.

The DAYTONA 500 now has a start time of 1:30 p.m. ET, and all broadcasting networks remain unchanged (FOX, MRN Radio, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).

Parking lots will open at 6 a.m., the FanZone will open at 8:30 a.m., and gates will open at 9 a.m. for fans.

Country music star Miranda Lambert is still scheduled to perform the pre-race concert, and the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will perform their flyover at the conclusion of the National Anthem.

Kyle Busch will lead the field to green in his Richard Childress Racing No. 8 Chevrolet, as he continues to chase his first DAYTONA 500 victory in his 21st start in the race.

Hendrick Motorsports’ William Byron is looking to make history by becoming the first driver to win three-consecutive DAYTONA 500’s. Last season, he added his name to the list of five drivers who’ve achieved back-to-back wins in the race.
