Layne Riggs wins again at Nashville after Last Lap Pass

LEBANON, Tenn. – There was hardly ever any doubt as to who was best in class for Friday night’s Truck race at Nashville Superspeedway. Pushed back to a late start by weather, Layne Riggs quickly established himself as the top dog. The Front Row Motorsports driver never looked fazed, until a bad set of tires set him back. Having to rally from 13th with 26 laps left, Riggs only found the front again in turn two on the last lap. Cleanly passing Rajah Caruth with fresher tires, Riggs earned back-to-back victories and took command of the championship lead thanks to a standout Nashville performance.

From the pole, Charlotte winner Layne Riggs remained unbeaten across both stages. The No. 34 Ford led the opening 98 laps, appearing poised for another banner night.

A late yellow in Stage 2, however, allowed a few trucks to pit early. This included 2025 Nashville winner Rajah Caruth, who soon took the top spot and ran away with it. Caruth seemed to be on track for consecutive concrete triumphs, until the last lap.

Thanks to Riggs pitting inside of the final 30 laps, the 34 had newer tires and carved his way through the field. Riggs took second with two to go and soon blew by Caruth. The second generation short track ace is now a three-time winner on the 2026 season, including each of the last two weeks.

“That’s how you win a NASTruck race right there, boys and girls,” Riggs said. “I hope I put on a show for you guys. I didn’t want to fall back, but I don’t know what happened with that set of tires, but it was literally un-drivable. Dylan [Cappello, crew chief] made the right adjustments there. Got me the tires. You got me the motivation. Drove me to the front. I think you just saw it right there.”

“Thank you Love’s Travel Stops, Front Row Motorsports, all these guys on this team right here. The pit crew right here did a great job all night. So proud of it. Awesome finish there with the 38 truck.
They gave me the push for the win. Great racing there with Chandler [Smith], but thank you to all the fans tonight. Awesome night of racing, thank you, everybody.”

Behind Riggs and Caruth at the checkers were: Chandler Smith, Ross Chastain, and Tyler Ankrum. The rest of Nashville’s top-10 were: Stewart Friesen, Grant Enfinger, Christian Eckes, Gio Ruggiero, and Daniel Dye.

Equally because of the Nashville win and mechanical issues for Kaden Honeycutt, Riggs now holds top spot in the championship by 37 points over the 11. These two have separated themselves from the field by almost 100 points as the co-title favorites.

Trucks will be back in action Saturday from Michigan International Speedway. The DQS Solutions & Staffing 250 goes green at 1:30 p.m. ET on FS1, NRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. Riggs will be gunning for a three-peat on the high speed oval in Ford’s backyard.
