Kyle Busch Conquers the Monster Mile in Truck Series Return
DOVER, Del. – Kicking off All-Star Race weekend in style, the Craftsman Truck Series made their first visit to Dover in six years. King of the Truckers Kyle Busch made his presence felt with an all-star performance. Leading 147 of 200 laps from the pole, Busch takes a fifth career Miles the Monster trophy. Altogether, Busch extends his own all-time Trucks wins total to 69. Busch now has a pair of wins on the young 2026 season with Spire Motorsports.
Shades of vintage Kyle Busch were on display early. From the pole, Spire’s No. 7 Chevrolet led all but four laps between both stages. Restarting third in the final stage, it only took Rowdy 44 laps to regain the top spot. Despite being told to save fuel late, nobody could challenge Busch’s march back to victory lane.
“You never know when the last one is, you know,” Busch said. “I know all too well, unfortunately, with the Cup stuff. But here with the Truck stuff right now is awesome. Just to be a part of Spire Motorsports, thanks to, Jeff and Dan and Mr. H for the opportunity. HendrickCars.Com, I’m sure it looked great out front leading the race, and it wasn’t just Kyle Larson doing it. Feels good to have another Kyle being able to do it and putting ourselves in victory lane. Love coming to Dover, always one of my favorite places to race. Definitely some managing of the fuel there, managing of the tires there. It was an interesting, just kind of strategic battle, I guess, from the driver’s seat. Thanks to all the fans, appreciate everybody for being here at Dover, and the Monster Mile for All Star weekend. We thank you and hopefully, we have another great O’Reilly race tomorrow and an even better Cup race on Sunday.”
“I’ve been around for a long time. Anytime I’m able to hear more things that have been accomplished, you know, it just goes to show you, yes, you’ve had a successful career, but you’ve also been here for a while. All in all though, it takes a lot of great people behind you, with you, all of those things. Brian Pattie [crew chief] and this bunch on this team was a part of the group in which I got rid of KBM. It’s nice to be able to come back over here and win some more races again with that group. Just it’s fun and I want to keep doing it.”
Behind Busch at the checkers were: Ty Majeski, Layne Riggs, Kaden Honeycutt, and Christopher Bell. The rest of Dover’s top-10 were: Brandon Jones, Christian Eckes, Corey Lajoie, Jake Garcia, and Justin Haley. Honeycutt saw a fourth-place run back up his maiden win from Watkins Glen last week. This has the TRICON Garage driver firmly atop the championship standings by 38 points over Layne Riggs.
Also worthy of mention was Clint Bowyer’s run in Kaulig Racing’s Free Agent RAM 1500. The No. 25 RAM ran as high as the top-15 before a late pit stop and DNF relegated the past NASCAR star to a 29th-place finish.
Truckers will be back in action under the lights Friday from Charlotte Motor Speedway. The North Carolina Education Lottery 200 goes green at 7:30 p.m. ET on FS1, PRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. Charlotte will mark the fourth stop in a six week stretch for the Truck Series.
