Brad Keselowski Leaving No. 6 Ford, Ending Ownership Tenure at RFK Racing
CONCORD, N.C. – Announced Tuesday morning, NASCAR champion Brad Keselowski and Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing will part ways after 2026. The accomplished driver has been a co-owner of this team since 2021. He will vacate the No. 6 Ford Mustang and leave his ownership position after five years.
“We are big fans of Brad as a person, driver, and colleague,” RFK Racing President Chip Bowers said in a statement. “The impact Brad has made on our organization has been felt by everyone associated with RFK Racing; he’s undoubtedly been a terrific representative of our collective efforts both on and off the track. He was not simply driving the No. 6 car but investing himself in the future of the team and helping us think differently about what RFK Racing could become. We have tremendous respect for Brad as a champion, competitor, and leader, and we are grateful for the energy and commitment he has brought to RFK. Brad has been clear about his desire to continue competing for years to come, and we respect and support him in pursuing the path that best allows him to achieve those goals. With several races still ahead, we look forward to competing together through the remainder of the season.”
Keselowski also shared his own statement to social media, citing “I’m nowhere near ready to be done as a driver. I still have a lot I want to accomplish in this sport, and I’m looking forward to what’s coming next.”
Ahead of the 2022 NASCAR season, this team rebranded to Roush Fenway Keselowski (RFK) Racing. This mirrored when Keselowski took over the No. 6. Over the five years since then, Keselowski has been a significant figure in guiding the team’s competitive path forward by modernizing efforts through ambitious commitment to process and technology.
This span of Keselowski’s career has also seen him win once, at Darlington Raceway in spring 2024. At the time of this writing, the No. 6 is currently ranked 18th in Cup Series points. Through 30 races so far in 2026, they have seen two top-fives and six top-10s.
RFK said that Keselowski will continue to drive the No. 6 Ford Dark Horse Mustang for the last six races of the 2026 season. RFK Racing and Keselowski will also work through the appropriate next steps regarding his existing ownership interest in the organization. The team also supports Keselowski’s wishes to find his next opportunity.
RFK Racing will also try to remain as a three-car NASCAR Cup Series organization in 2027. They are still actively searching for a third charter. Any future plans for the No. 6 will be announced at a later date. RFK will also begin the hunt for a new head of competition, this position was held by Keselowski.
RFK Racing will continue to operate under the ownership of Roush Enterprises, building on Jack Roush’s decades of success in NASCAR, and Fenway Sports Group, a diversified global sports platform. Both ownership groups remain firmly committed to RFK Racing and its long-term success.
