Washington Wizards Come Up Short In Their Preseason Opener

The Washington Wizards preseason opener against the New York Knicks on Monday night didn’t turn out well for them. They lost to the Knicks in overtime, 124-121. At times, they looked flat footed and played with with no energy. The team took more three point shots as head coach Scott Brooks wants his team to do this year. “Taking more threes is where we can take our game to another level,” said Brooks.

Well, they did that in their preseason opener and they didn’t do so well. If this team is going to jack up more three pointers, they better make them. Taking more three-point shots against teams like the Golden State Warriors, who the Wizards play in one their first five games of the season. You miss those three pointers, you will lose.

Jeff Green in The Washington Wizards Preseason Opener

The Wizards signing Jeff Green is looking like a smart move. They’ve had the worst bench in the NBA for the past few seasons. If the Wizards are going to go deep into the playoffs, they will need help from their bench.

Right now, the second unit looks better talent wise then it has ever looked in the past five seasons. Also, with the addition of Austin Rivers, the second unit should receive a big time boost. Let’s not forget that the best defender on the bench is Kelly Oubre Jr. The question that remains is how well will the new bench jell together? It remains to be seen but this team definitely  has the talent now to be at the top.

John Wall and Bradley Beal in The Washington Wizards Preseason Opener

The duo of John Wall and Bradley Beal looked a little lost in their first preseason game. However, don’t panic that is why its called the preseason. Teams need time to jell and things will change with Wall and Beal. Look for Wall to feed Beal a lot more in game two of the preseason against the Miami Heat.
