Los Angeles Dodgers Win Trevor Bauer Sweepstakes

The Los Angeles Dodgers have officially won the Trevor Bauer sweepstakes. He will sign a three-year deal with the defending-champs worth a reported $102 million with an opt-out in each of the first two years of the deal. After a lot of hype on social media, the reigning-NL Cy Young winner will head home to LA in hopes of winning a championship. The Dodgers and the New York Mets were the final two teams in on Bauer.

In 2020, Bauer was lights out. He finished with a record of 5-4 with a 1.73 ERA and 100 strikeouts over 73 innings pitched. he posted a WHIP of 0.79, an ERA+ of 276, and two complete-game shutouts (all of which led the National League). He also finished tenth in the MVP voting.

Bauer was also dominant during the playoffs for the Reds. Though he only pitched one game, he went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs on two hits with 12 strikeouts. This comes after he pitched on short-rest down the stretch to help get the Reds back into the postseason.

Overall, this is a great addition for the Dodgers. Their rotation now stands with Clayton Kershaw, Walker Buehler, Bauer, Julio Urias, and David Price. The Dodgers were and still are the clear favorites in 2021. The main question will be if they can now do it again in a 162-game season.
