Dodgers Win First World Series Title Since 1988

For the first time since 1988, the Dodgers are World Series champions. They won game six against the Tampa Bay Rays by a final score of 3-1. The Dodgers went with a bullpen game and they were lights out. After a first-inning homer from Randy Arozarena, Dodgers pitching kept the Rays quiet the rest of the night. For the Rays, Blake Snell got the start and he was terrific. Snell went 5 and 1/3 innings allowing one run on two hits with nine strikeouts. It was a surprise ending for Snell as Kevin Cash went to the bullpen with Snell at just 73 pitches and a shutout in-tact. Nevertheless, the Dodgers capitalized right away against Nick Anderson and scored two runs. Julio Urias came out of the bullpen and shut the door on a Dodgers World Series title.

Game Recap

The Rays got the scoring started right away in the first. Randy Arozarena hit his tenth homer of the postseason to give the Rays the early 1-0 lead. Blake Snell was cruising after that. Once he got taken out, that’s when the Dodgers began to pounce. A wild pitch scored Austin Barnes. The next pitch, Corey Seager hit a fielder’s choice that scored Mookie Betts from third. Mookie would put the icing on the cake in the eighth with a solo shot to secure the Dodgers 3-1 win.

The clear confusion during this game was the decision to remove Blake Snell with a shutout and just 74 pitches. The controversy and shaky decision make have cost the Rays a game seven, and a chance to win their first World Series ever. However, this will not be the last we see of the Tampa Bay Rays. They will be back and they will win a World Series in the coming years.

As for the Dodgers, they finally got the job done. And in addition, Clayton Kershaw FINALLY got his ring. Congrats to the Dodgers on winning their first World Series title since 1988.
