Los Angeles Dodgers Win National League Pennant

For the third time in the last four years, the Dodgers are heading back to the World Series. They defeated the Atlanta Braves 4-3 in Game 7 of the NLCS. They will face off against the Tampa Bay Rays and will look to win their first World Series since 1988. The NLCS MVP was given to Corey Seager who hit five homers with 11 RBIs.

Game Recap

The Braves looked to rookie Ian Anderson in Game 7. Anderson gutted through three innings of work allowing two runs on five hits while striking out two. Offensively, the Braves got to work early. Marcel Ozuna drove in Ronald Acuna Jr. with an RBI single in the first. In the second, Dansby Swanson launched his first home run of the series to put Atlanta up 2-0. Austin Riley would add a run in the fourth with an RBI single.

For the Dodgers, Dustin May took the mound. May went just one inning allowing one run on one hit. The Dodgers plan was to use for May for an inning or two then go to Tony Gonsolin and the rest of the Dodgers bullpen. After all of the momentum seemed to be with Atlanta, catcher Will Smith got the Dodgers going with a two-run single in the third. After Atlanta regained the lead, Kike Hernandez launched a game-tying homer in the sixth. Once the seventh inning came, the reigning NL MVP Cody Bellinger struck as he launched his second homer of the series over the right field wall. Julio Urias would finish out the ninth and give LA another NL pennant.

Dodgers Heading To Fall Classic

The Dodgers have been so close that past few years. This Dodgers team is different. With the addition of Mookie Betts, the Dodgers were the best team in baseball in 2020. They had the best record and will face-off with the Rays who had the best record in the American League. After coming so close recently, the Dodgers are surely going to put everything out there to win their first World Series since 1988.
