John Hennigan Re-signs With WWE

In the mad dash to pick up and sign as many available talents as needed in the new wrestling TV war; WWE has re-signed former Intercontinental and Tag Team Champion John Hennigan. This was first reported by PWInsider.

Hennigan (or Impact, or Mundo, or Morrison) hasn’t wrestled for the promotion since 2011. Since leaving the company, he has made a bigger name for himself on the independent and international circuits.

Winning championship gold in both Impact Wrestling and Lucha Underground; Hennigan, now 39, signed on earlier this week, though reports have yet to get confirmation from him.

His signing also brings about the possibility of dream matches not seen in the WWE ring. With the amount of talent signed on, and depending on which show he goes to; there opens up a door for WWE to bring in more fans.

With John Hennigan, who will likely go back under the Morrison name; WWE will have the possibility of matching him up with the likes of Ricochet, Kevin Owens, Daniel Bryan and more.

And given that he is healthy, he can still go with a lot of them. Hennigan announced that he would undergo a stem cell procedure after finishing up with Impact. He went to Medellin, Colombia to have it done; tending to nagging injuries that have occurred over the course of his 18-year career.

What Does WWE Get With His Return?

Hennigan raised his stock after leaving WWE and became more widely recognized for it. Having had stints in the aforementioned Impact Wrestling and Lucha Underground; as well as Lucha Libre AAA and Dragon Gate USA.

He comes back a proven veteran, having won the big prize in several promotions, including the ones mentioned earlier. Those additions to his resume could work in his, and WWE’s favor; as he has proven that given the opportunity, he can viably fill the role of a main eventer.

Also, his familiarity with some of the talent can almost guarantee marquee matches; such in the case of Ricochet, who he worked against in Lucha Underground when Ricochet was under the “Prince Puma” persona.

Hennigan also comes with pseudo star quality, having acted in several TV shows and movies. From shows such as “Survivor” to Netflix’s “G.L.O.W.”; to such films as “Sharknado 5” and “Russell Madness”, he has created a buzz that is worth noting.

He’s also been featured in several web series, including a recent episode of “Being The Elite”.
