Michael Chavis: The Most Consistent Player

Defensive Ability

Michael Chavis is a rookie infielder for the Boston Red Sox. Chavis plays first base and has been known to make some unbelievable plays. He has great reaction time and ability to track down fly balls. Incredibly, he has only recorded six errors throughout all of his games as a defender. He has the ability to play first, second, and third base. Most recently, Chavis has been making spectacular plays during his tenure at first base. He throws caution to the wind in order to make the play. Whether he’s diving into the dugout or sliding into a side wall he gives his all to try and make the play. Since Chavis has been so effective, he has earned a starting role for the Boston Red Sox.

Offensive Performance

Since his debut, Chavis has been producing impressive numbers. He has recorded 16 home runs, 52 RBI’s and stolen two bases. During his display of power at the plate he has struck out 102 times in over 300 plate appearances. Without Chavis in the lineup, the somewhat struggling offense of the Red Sox would be lacking a pure hitter with great power. The numbers, along with his contributions to the season, will help boast his stake as a Rookie of the Year candidate. Chavis, who was not called up until April 20th, has been producing since the first time he walked on the field in Tampa Bay. The way Chavis hits the ball leaves a lingering question… how much better can he get this season and every other season he participates in? He has all the makings of a great player and even a main franchise player.  He is humble and lets his playing do the talking for him. It is going to be a great privilege to watch Chavis develop into what I believe will be an amazing player.
