Tony Khan Says More AEW Titles To Come

Fans of All Elite Wrestling, AEW, are looking forward to the upcoming ALL OUT event; set to take place on August 31st, from the Sears Centre, in Chicago, IL. And there has been a buzz about the crowning of the first ever AEW World Heavyweight Champion; as Adam “Hangman” Page will faceoff with Chris Jericho.

And, according to AEW President, Tony Khan; there is also going to be a tag team tournament to determine the promotion’s first tag champs.

On a recent episode of The Steve Austin Show, Khan spoke about not only the main event picture but also on the build-up of the other divisions. Said Khan:
“We want to focus on a serious main event picture both in the singles and tag team divisions. Then, we establish women’s singles and establish the women’s tag team titles when we get there. I’m not going to pretend that we are not serious about building the (men’s and women’s) tag team division.”
AEW looks to be the new stand-out promotion, and with their focus seemingly on developing a strong tag team division; the company looks to pull no punches in their climb. Touting themselves as the true alternative for fans; you could see little hints of what they brought in their last two events.
One of the company’s main claims was that wins and losses would count; that there would be meaning to a performer’s win-loss record. A stark alternative to WWE, where wins and losses virtually don’t matter.

Khan continued:

“As we focus on having the best world championship, in singles and tag teams, men and women, that’s going to be the focus. When I talk about wins and losses matter, that is important to the story. Who won and loss on these pay-per-views is going to really matter. It is the most important thing we can do to establish a promotion, is to establish the championship. It is what everyone is trying to obtain, how do you obtain the championship? By establishing a run of matches, a streak, by winning a big match, winning a title eliminator. I’m excited about what we are going to do with this.”
Tony Khan hopes that the talent that signs get to use the platform; in order to get their personalities across, saying:
“The guys are going to have time to get their personalities across, but they are also going to have time to have great matches. I want people to tune into our show, looking forward to it all day, because of great matches. There are tons of great wrestling right now, except it’s not as readily available. We need to get back to where not only is the wrestling great, not only are we doing hot shows, but also get the commercial success, [where] we are getting huge advertising money in, and be a juggernaut in terms of television and media.”
With those expectations, Khan shows that he has a lot riding on the success of the talent. If you would like to listen to the podcast, feel free to give a listen below.
