Christian Eriksen Talks Real Madrid

Christian Eriksen admits “Real Madrid would be a step forward” in his career if he exits the club this summer.

Both Real Madrid and Barcelona have been after the Danish player. However, Los Blancos have had a more direct contact with the 27-year-old.

Just last month, it was reported that the two sides had a verbal agreement. An agreement that sees Eriksen make the jump to Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

Nevertheless, Eriksen’s contract with Tottenham will expire in the summer of 2020.

However, Tottenham owner is now willing to cash in on the player this summer.

“I feel like I’m at a stage in my career where I would like to try something new,” Eriksen told Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet, as cited by Marca.

“It would not be a bad thing to stay as I have a lot of respect for what Tottenham is doing, but I would like to try something new.

“I hope this summer something is decided upon, that is the plan. In football you never know when something like that could be decided as it can be fast, but things in football tend to take time.

“Real Madrid? It would be a step forward, but for that Madrid should pick up the phone and call Tottenham to say they love me, as far as I know that has not happened yet.

“Everything depends on Daniel Levy, but there has to be another club, otherwise I’ll sit down and negotiate a new contract.

“You cannot set the date by yourself If I have to leave, I’ll have to take a step forward and move to a  team better than Tottenham.”
