Alaves Appoints Asier Garitano As New Boss

Deportivo Alaves has confirmed the appointment of Asier Garitano as new boss.

Additionally, the Bergara native signed a deal that will keep him with the Babazorro until June 2020.

The club has admitted only wanting a one-year deal to determine where the club will head this season.

The Basque side was able to maintain their first-tier permanency at the eleventh standing under Abelardo Fernandez.

However, they were looking at being able to reach Europa League this season.

Nonetheless, they were able to hold a top-five standing until November and were challenging for European place until early spring.

Despite this, the Basque side was able to maintain their category.

Garitano managed Alaves once before but struggled.

He was fire in December 2017 after four successive defeats.

Avelardo is said to be interested in taking over at Real Betis where Quique Setien withdrew from his position as manager.

However, others are considering him as Luis Enrique’s replacement as Spain’s boss.

Meanwhile, the Victoria side will start a new journey under Garitano this new season.
