Pirates Travel To Detroit

After an off day on Monday, the Pirates will head to the Motor City known as Detroit, Michigan. The Pirates and Tigers will begin a two-game series at Comerica Park before returning home on Friday night.

Pittsburgh Pirates On The Road

The Pirates thus far have only spent eight games away from PNC Park. In those eight games, the Pirates have split two games with the Reds (originally a three-game series with one being postponed and made up at a different day). Lost two of three to the Chicago Cubs, and lastly, the Pirates took two of three from the Nationals over the weekend.

The Pirates are currently .500 on the road and have a record of 4-4. The Pirates are 7-3 in their last 10 games.

Pirates Against The Tigers

Last season, the Pirates played at Detroit for three games, swept the series, and outscored the Tigers 22-16. On the other hand, when the series shifted to Pittsburgh, the Pirates took two-of-three including a doubleheader split. The Pirates outscored Detroit 19-16 in those three games.

Playing The Tigers

The Tigers and Pirates have played regularly since the Houston Astros moved to the American League. And it has in one way or another become a regular rivalry. This time around, it’ll be a little interesting considering the Tigers got both Jordy Mercer and Josh Harrison this past off-season.

Conclusion

The Pirates will cap off a road trip with a short two-game series at Comerica Park in Detroit. After the two-game series, the Pirates will head back home for this upcoming weekend when they begin a long home stretch against NL West teams and welcome the San Francisco Giants to PNC Park. Joe Musgrove will get the start tonight against the Tigers and opposing him is Matt Boyd of the Tigers.
