Wolverhampton vs Manchester United Preview

  • Date: Apr. 2, 2019
  • Time: 2:45 p.m. (est)
  • Network: NBC sports, UNIVERSAL
  • Location: Wolverhampton, England
  • Venue: Molineux Stadium
  • Seating Capacity: 31,700

Manchester United continue their hunt to stay in the top four places in the Premier League when they visit Wolverhampton.

Nonetheless, the matchup sets itself for a Red Devils revenge.

Meanwhile, the Wolves sit at seventh place with no possible chance at moving up in the stands. Chelsea sit at six with a 16 points lead. Though staying in that position will be great, it will likely not merit a European ticket.

Team News

The Wanderers come to this match with a relatively injury-free squad. However, with their FA Cup semifinal match on Sunday against Watford, Nuno Espirito Santo may rest players.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils will see the return of Anthony Martial following an injury. Additionally, Eric Baily, Matteo Darmian, Alexis Sanchez and Antonio Valencia remain out.

Previous Encounters

The Wolves are looking for their second win over the Red Devils this season. Manchester United was knocked out by the Wolves last month from the FA Cup.

Additionally, the two sides have alternated between victory and defeat in the last four seasons at Molineux.

Their last Premier League match took place in September where the sides ended in a 1-1 draw.

Predicted Line-Ups

Wolverhampton possible XI: Patricio; Boly, Coady, Saiss; Jonny, Moutinho, Neves, Dendoncker, Doherty; Jota, Jimenez.

Manchester possible XI: De Gea; Shaw, Lindelof, Smalling, Young; Pogba, Matic, Herrera; Martial, Rashford, Lingard.

Match Prediction

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will look to have his side ready against a Wolves side that has nothing to lose. After an unconvincing win over Watford last Saturday, an additional win would put pressure on Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Nuno’s side will likely fair easy with a draw if they can. Their priorities are set on Sunday’s matchup against Watford at Wembley.

Prediction: Wolverhampton 1 – 3 Manchester United
