SmackDown Recap for the March 5, 2019 Episode of SmackDown Live
The First Half
The show opens with “The New” Daniel Bryan and Rowan making their way down to the ring.
Daniel says last week he remained silent, but this week the crowd will be the ones that needs to remain silent. He says that he understands why Vince McMahon chose to replace Kofi Kingston. He states Kevin Owens does not deserve a title shot because he is a nobody.
Kevin Owens interrupts Daniel. Owens says that, while he was away, he had a lot of time to think. He says that he is with the WWE Universe and wants to shut Bryan up.
Owens says it was never his intention to replace Kofi Kingston, but he will take the WWE Championship from Daniel.
Owens attacks Rowan, but Rowan turns the tables and Claw Slams Owens.
One on One: Jey Uso vs The Miz
Result: Miz pins Uso
- Miz wins with the Skull Crushing Finale
Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews Charlotte Flair. Charlotte invites Becky to SmackDown for the night. She claims she wants to have a “friendly discussion” about Becky’s physical and mental capabilities.
United States Open Challenge: R-Truth (c) vs Samoa Joe vs Rey Mysterio vs Andrade
Result: Joe pins Andrade and becomes the new champion
- Before the match, Lacey Evans walks down the ramp, looking as though she might challenge Truth for the title, but she turns around and marches back up the ramp
- Joe dodges a Springboard Crossbody from Mysterio by simply walking out of the way
- Joe hits a Suicide Dive on Andrade
- Andrade hits a Second Chance Moonsault
- Truth hits a double Five Knuckle Shuffle
- Zelina Vega Hurricanranas Truth into the barricade
- Following a Uranage, Joe pins Andrade to win the title
Two on Two Tag Team: Aleister Black & Ricochet vs The Bar
Result: Ricochet pins Cesaro
- Ricochet hits the 630 Senton for the win
After the match, Shinsuke Nakamura and Rusev attack Black and O’Shea.
The Hardy Boyz run to the ring to make the save and fight off Rusev and Nakamura.
Women’s One on One: Mandy Rose vs Naomi
Result: Mandy pins Naomi
- Mandy hits Ciampa’s finisher for the win
After the match, Asuka appears and attacks both Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville.
One on One: Kevin Owens vs Rowan
Result: Owens wins by DQ after Daniel Bryan attacks him
After the match, Rowan and Bryan continue to beat down Owens. Mustafa Ali arrives to aid Owens.
Charlotte Flair takes to the ring; Becky Lynch joins her.
Becky says that being banged up a little is worth the price to pay to get inside Charlotte and Ronda Rousey’s head. Despite Ronda giving her best, Becky says she is still ready to fight.
Charlotte attacks Becky, but Becky manages to wrestle her to the ground and lock in the Dis-Arm-Her on Charlotte.
