Kyle Busch Sets Truck Series All-Time Win Record with 52nd Career Victory in Atlanta

Whenever Kyle Busch straps into a Gander Outdoors Series Truck, he is always a strong threat for the victory. Saturday night in Atlanta was no different, except this win came with added historical significance. Busch’s Atlanta triumph was his 52nd career Truck Series victory. This breaks a tie he had with Hall of Famer Ron Hornaday, Jr. for the Truck Series all time wins leader.

Busch Becomes Wins Leader in Multiple Series as He Chases 200

With his 52nd career win, Busch stands alone atop the Truck Series’ all time wins list. This is in addition to his status as the all time Xfinity Series wins leader. Busch has held this Xfinity record since 2011. To date overall, the younger Busch brother has 52 Truck wins, 92 Xfinity wins, and 51 Cup Series victories, to total 195 combined NASCAR wins. Kyle is quickly approaching the 200 wins mark. Upon passing it, Busch would technically be the all time winningest NASCAR national series driver, overtaking Richard Petty’s 200 Cup Series wins.

At only 33 years old, Kyle Busch has set an unprecedented amount of NASCAR milestones in a relatively brief career. The Las Vegas native is also on the cusp of becoming 10th on the Cup Series’ wins list. The list of NASCAR national series accomplishments Busch has not achieved are very short.

The Current Legacy of Kyle Busch

Busch is 2-for-3 in terms of wins-leader in a NASCAR national Series, with winning percentages that are unparalleled. Last year, NASCAR RaceHub rated Busch as the 12th best driver in NASCAR history. As an Xfinity and Cup champion, also closing in on 200 overall wins, many fans put Kyle in that range. However, Busch only has one Cup Series title. In spite of just 1 premier series championship, many still name his as one of the all time greatest driving talents. Should Busch win another Cup title or two, serious consideration should be made to dignify KB as one of NASCAR’s best racers ever.

Kyle’s long and successful legacy is obviously still in the making. Someday when Kyle is going into the Hall of Fame, his resume will trump many of the preceding members. Busch is the only driver in NASCAR history to win 3 races in one weekend, which he has done twice at Bristol. This weekend, Busch will go for another tripleheader swep at his home track, Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Coming off his 52nd Truck Series win, Busch has to be a favorite for all 3 races at Vegas.

The Truck Series’ all-time wins leader changing may be the last time we ever see this stat change in any NASCAR series. Busch’s 52nd career victory in Atlanta cannot be understated in significance. This feat only further cements him as one of the greatest racers in NASCAR history. Only 5 wins remain between Busch and the 200 victories mark. It’s now a question of when and not if Busch will achieve this feat.
