NXT Recap for the February 2, 2019 Episode of NXT

Hour One

Johnny Gargano takes to the ring to start off this week’s show. Johnny says it feels good to finally be NXT North American champion. He says he is proud to say “Johnny Wrestling” is back.

Tomasso Ciampa comes out to interrupt Johnny. Ciampa says he’s here to celebrate with Johnny. He says it’s been their goal to be champions at the same time in NXT. He says that being champions again proves it is now their moment.

Johnny disagrees and says he doesn’t need Tomasso. Velveteen Dream shows up to cut off Gargano.

Dream says that tonight is about the man that stole TakeOver: Phoenix, Velveteen Dream. He says that he know has a NXT championship opportunity after winning the World’s Collide Tournament. Dream tells Ciampa he’s not there for his championship, but instead challenges Johnny Gargano for the NXT North American championship.

Johnny says while Dream was sitting in the crowd, he was putting on another great match. He tells Dream to go ahead use his title shot against him, but he will win.

Dream asks if he’ll be facing “Johnny Wrestling” or “Johnny Jackass”. Johnny leaves the ring.

One on One: Jaxson Ryker vs Mansoor

Result: Ryker pins Mansoor

  • Ryker wins with a Sit-out Spinebuster

Backstage interview with Adam Cole BAY BAY after he asks why the interviewer is waiting on Ricochet. Cole claims Ricochet is yesterday’s news. Ricochet overhears and challenges Cole to a match. After Cole leaves, Ricochet vows to capture the next opportunity he finds.

One on One: Drew Gulak vs Eric Bugenhagen

Result: Gulak submits Bugenhagen

  • Gulak locks on the Gu-Lock to win

After the match, Drew Gulak takes to the mic. He says he feels disrespected by facing such an inferior opponent. He challenges anyone to come out and fight him. Matt Riddle answers the call. Riddle tells Gulak to get out of the ring or he’ll regret it. Gulak tells Riddle to make him. Riddle kicks off his flip flops and heads down to the ring.

One on One: Matt Riddle vs Drew Gulak

Result: Riddle submits Gulak

  • Riddle uses the Bro-Mission to win
  • Gulak and Riddle shake hands after the match

Women’s 6-Man Tag Team: Io Shirai, Kairi Sane, and Bianca Belair vs Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke, and Marina Shafir

Result: Shirai pins Baszler

  • Io Shirai wins with the Moonsault
