Bucks Score 50 In 1st, Blowout Wizards 148-129

Bradley Beal scored on a dunk with 4:00 left in the first quarter, giving the Washington Wizards the lead over the Milwaukee Bucks 29-28. Then the best team in the league showed why they may be the team to beat in the East. After a 22-6 run, they ended the first quarter with 50 points and a 15-point lead.

“We just couldn’t contain them, they were on fire, they made all of their 3’s,” said Wizards coach Scott Brooks, “They’re a good team, they’re the best team in the league for a reason. They have a lot of good players, and Giannis, when you’re not doing well, you just put him back in and the game changes, he is that good. He is a MVP type player.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo continued his MVP like season with 43 points, including 3-of-3 from deep. The Bucks as a team could not miss from 3-point range, shooting 63%. This has become a trend for the Wizards, who have given up at least 15 3-pointers in five of the past six games. Combined with the 23 turnovers the Wizards had tonight, it equals another lopsided loss.

Comeback Kings

After surviving the first quarter, the Wizards outscored the Bucks 42-35 in the third quarter. They managed to get the game back to single digits early in the fourth quarter, after a Chasson Randle layup made it 120-113.  Then Eric Bledsoe took over the game. He was responsible for the Bucks next 11 points through scoring or an assist. He finished off his personal run with a put-back dunk off a missed free-throw. Starting from the 3-point line, he rushed down the middle of the lane — jumping over a Wizard — to finish strong with two hands. That made it a 19-point game and the Bucks maintained that lead til the end.

Big Trade News

The news of the night was the trade that the Wizards pulled of with the Bulls before the game. The teams have agreed to trade Otto Porter (Wizards) for Jabari Parker and Bobby Portis (Bulls). This trade does give the Wizards some cap relief with both Parker and Portis being free agents this summer. For the Bulls, they get the wing they have been missing to pair with Zach Lavine. Markieff Morris was also traded by the Wizards to the Pelicans for Wesley Johnson. The NBA trade deadline is Thursday at 3 pm, and it is expected to be a busy trade season.

All-Star Draft

Beal will find out tomorrow if he will have to face Antetokounmpo again or will he join forces with him for the 2019 All-Star game in Charlotte. The live draft will take place on TNT at 7 pm. LeBron James will be the other captain who will pick teams with Antetokounmpo. NBA All-Star game will take place on February 17 at 8 pm.
