Ronda Rousey Leaving WWE After WrestleMania?

Just a few days ago, news broke in the wrestling world that RAW Women’s Champion, Ronda Rousey, was set to depart the WWE after WrestleMania this year. Despite her contract supposedly being a multi-year deal, news sources made it clear Ronda would make a grand exit.

But is she really?

Predictions

Let’s be honest here. We all knew RR’s time with WWE would be short-lived. We just didn’t know the extent of it. In fact, I wrote at the end of December that Ronda would be leaving WWE to start a family. Of course, leaving in 2019? That was a mere prediction by me, because she has already done so much. However, she’s made the intention of starting her own family very clear from the beginning.

I still think she will leave undefeated, though. I don’t see Sasha Banks winning the belt on Sunday at all. Should she ever lose the belt, it would only make sense against Charlotte.

Yet, due to the amount of attention this news has gotten, I can’t help but wonder if it’s a work. I mean, even Nia Jax tweeted this out:

Interesting.

And, although her original contract was said to be multi-year, the terms aren’t public knowledge. For all we know, she can take as many breaks from the company as, say, the Universal Champion.

Ronda Responds to the Rumors

Ronda actually told ESPN that following ‘Mania, she did plan to take time off from the WWE. She also said this wasn’t exactly a secret that she wouldn’t be full-time with the company forever.  Here’s what she told them:

“I’ve not kept it a secret that I would definitely want to start a family.”

“So, do you just keep going until you just happen to get pregnant? Or should you stop and go try to get pregnant? Or is going and trying to get pregnant putting yourself on the spot, and then you’re less likely to get pregnant?”

“There’s a lot of things up in the air. A lot of decisions that we gotta make as a family. I’m trying to figure it out as I go along.”

Ashley Sweetly Writes

I still stand by what I originally wrote. Even if she doesn’t hang up the boots forever, I do see a departure in her future. How long? Who knows. I think that Rousey will have accomplished enough of her dreams by WrestleMania to justify a leave of absence. It would not surprise me in the slightest if she chooses to take some time off. For this one, I’m gonna go with true.
