Monaco Plan To Replace Henry With Jardim

Leonardo Jardim has surface as a possible replacement for Thierry Henry. AS Monaco announced on Thursday that the French manager had been suspended but did not provide any other details.

In a statement, the team communicated that Franck Passi would take over the team in the interim.

“AS Monaco announces that it has decided to suspend first-team coach Thierry Henry.

Franck Passi will train the professional group this Friday.”

Additionally, the former World Cup winner has been let go of his duties.

Henry has overseen the Ligue 1 club for the last three last months. Though it has been rather disastrous, Henry led the team to four wins in 20 matches. Additionally, he was unable to lead the team to a single home win.

Several issues have come to surface. Henry was forced to apologize after telling defender Kenny Lala “your grandmother’s a w***e”. Additionally, he humiliated 20-year-old goalkeeper, Loic Badiashile, for not properly pushing his chair back under the desk at the end of press conference. Something that was applauded by many.

What is clear though is that the relationship between the two sides was never on the same page.

Moving Forward

According to L’Equipe, Jardim could coach the team as soon as Saturday against Dijon.

While with Monaco, Jardim won the league and advanced to the semifinals of the Champions League in 2016.

Currently, the team sits in 19th place in the standings with 15 points. The team sits in relegation slots and have only won three of its 21 league games this season.

In order to save the their season, they will need to work a lot, specially given they have acquired world class player like Cesc Fabregas.
