Blues Can’t Jam The Gunners

Match of the weekend. That’s what today brings. Chelsea and Arsenal seem to always be at battle with something on the line. Today seems to be no different. The Blues met the gunners with major implications of a top four finish on the line. Chelsea currently holds a comfortable six point lead on Arsenal, who are currently in sixth place, but nothing is “comfortable” in the Premier League. Chelsea came out on top in their last meeting with Arsenal thanks to the heroics of Marcos Alonso, who has had a shaky season this year. With a win today the blues will turn their worries to the resurgent Manchester United who have been climbing up the table in monstrous strides.

Welcome To The Gun Show

Chelsea’s slow start sickness seemed to be cured after last weeks match when they were able to get a goal within the first ten minutes of the match. Desperation is something that can’t be measured, and something Arsenal were not lacking that at all. Lacazette took full advantage of the gunners desperation and put Arsenal ahead in the 14th minute. Arsenal’s captain would double their lead before half after a well played set piece. Chelsea’s moments would come in the second half, but they would be slim. The lack of penetration into the box would be the blues downfall. Chelsea’s link up play along with their lack of creativity would be on displayed for all to see.

No Rest For The Weary

The Blues will have no time to rest after today’s results. Chelsea will have to reset their mindset and get ready for their mid-week leg two battle with Tottenham in the Carabao Cup. The Blues will have to overcome up a 0-1 deficit in order to make it through to the finals. With injuries to Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son, Chelsea will need to take advantage of Spurs depleted attack. Health and a short memory is critical for teams at this point of the season. The blues wont be back to league play until January 30th where they will travel to Bournemouth.
