Jean-Clair Todibo Agrees To Join Barça

Jean-Clair Todibo, the 19 year old defender from Toulouse has agreed to join the Catalan giants. Todibo reportedly did not accept a contract renewal from Toulouse and Barcelona got the green light to finalize the signing. The youngster will be joining the club for free in the summer, when his current contract runs out. According to various media outlets, he will sign on from July 1st, 2019.

Since the player has not renewed with the French club, the idea is that he will go on loan till his signing is complete. Although if and where he will go is not known yet.

Conflict Within Toulouse

The circumstances of Jean-Clair Todibo’s agreement with Barcelona has created conflict between the player and his current club. He has not been playing games and the club has almost cut the player off. Barça know their interest has caused issues and want to reach a peaceful solution. They are willing to pay 2 million Euros plus incentives to the French club. However, that would mean Jean-Clair Todibo would join immediately.

About Jean-Clair Todibo

Todibo was born in Cayenne, French Guyana on 30th December 1999. He joined Toulouse in 2016. He is a right footed central defender also capable of playing in central midfield occasionally. Todibo stands tall at 1.89 meters. He is vocal and despite his young age, is a good leader who can organize the backline. He is also physically gifted. The youngster is very strong in aerial situations. This season in Ligue 1, he has played 10 games and has one goal from a set piece. However, he has also picked up three bookings and one red card. Although his discipline and other aspects of play will only improve with game time.

This signing means that Barcelona will have more depth in their defense. As of now, Thomas Vermaelen, Samuel Umtiti are both injured. Which means the Blaugrana have only five fit options in defense. This includes the new player on loan from Valencia, Jeison Murillo. Barcelona needed to bolster their defensive options and they have managed to take steps in the right direction so far.
